Background

     Nowadays, more than 2,000 of Thai students have been studying in Japan. During their period of studies, lots of academic research have been produced which could contribute to Japan industry and Thailand society, as well. From this regard, in the year of 2006, the 1st Thai-Japanese Students’ Academic Exchange Meeting (TJSE) was initiated by Osaka University and organized by Thai Students’ Association in Japan under Royal Patronage (TSAJ). Then, the 2nd TJSE was set up in the following year of 2007 at Osaka University. For this year (2008), developing from the 1st and 2nd TJSE conference, The 1st Thailand-Japan International Academic Conference (TJIA2008) will be held at Tokyo Institute of Technology. The 1st TJIA conference is expected to be an official international conference which will link Thai and Japanese students, researchers as well as professionals to have an opportunity in exchanging knowledge, learning and practice together.

     The theme “From Research to Sustainable Development” has been set up in the 1st TJIA conference in order to encourage researchers from multiple disciplines and professions to create and carry out their researches living up to the dynamism of co-evolution of multifaceted functions towards the national sustainable development strategy. Apart from academic conference and cooperation for both countries, the conference aims to link network among multidisciplinary of researchers, national and academic institutions and industries forward the sustainable development perspective. The conference would also expect to generate an interdisciplinary community, promoting new integrated solution for sustainable development. In addition, the conference would consolidate Thai students and professionals who are studying and working in Japan to create those directory and knowledge database which could be an important resource for research, resulting in the great contribution to develop Thailand in the future.




Objective
    In accordance with the theme of “From Research to Sustainable Development”, objectives of the conference are as followings:
1.
To broaden viewpoint and establish academic research connections for sustainable development and real application which is needed by policy maker (national institutions) and user (industry sector) in Thailand.
2.
To gather and present the researches (that make a contribution to Thailand) which are conducted by Thai-Japanese students, researchers, and professional.
3.
To create academic network collaboration among Thai – Japanese students and researchers.
4.
To promote both the exchange and transfer of knowledge, learning, practice, and technology between Thailand and Japan
   
Expected Outcomes
1.
Participants realize in how to connect academic research to sustainable development and real application which is needed by policy maker (national institutions) and user (industry sector) in Thailand
2.
Thai students, researchers and professionals, who are studying and working in Thailand and Japan, have the opportunity to meet and present their works
3.
Academic networks collaboration among Thai – Japanese students and researchers are established
4.
Knowledge, learning, practice, and technology between Thailand and Japan are exchanged
5.
Obtain the executive summary of conference which will be available in proceeding and website
6.
Thai students will gain a favorable attitude toward TSAJ and be more willing to participate in future endeavors.
7.
The results from this meeting will be used to help in preparing for and conducting such events in the future.

Submission Format and Review Process
·
Extended Abstract: 2 pages (A4 paper) including discussion section on what kind of benefit can the research contributes to Thailand, or what is the pitfall or limitations of research when conducting in Thailand.

All extended abstract will be reviewed by reviewer committee (Both in Thailand and Japan). Comments will be noticed to the author in order to revise as appropriate.
 
Document Format
Important : Both oral and poster presenters MUST submit your extended abstract
Proceeding (Hard-Copy)

All accepted abstracts will be published in TJIA 08's proceeding.

·
A0 size (120 cm x 84 cm) or smaller
 
Registration and Document Submission
Both oral and poster presenters MUST upload your extended abstract
·
The file format must be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
·
There is no file name restriction. It will be changed automatically to match your issued registration ID.
·
File size is limited to 10 MB maximum.
·
Deadline for extended abstract submission is September 1 (Mon), 2008
· Please prepare your extended abstract file, the submission process will not be completed without uploaded extended abstract file.
·
For general attendees (who are not going to present your work), please use the same page as other presenters to register your information and issue your registration ID
